THINGS TO DO
- Fishing in the river or from the rocks
- Canoeing on the river for sport enthusiasts or just ambling up the river viewing the many species of various water birds as well as our resident fish eagle which nests along the krantz.
- Gonubie bird sanctuary is within walking distance of Emoyeni and the annual swallow migration is a sight to behold when thousands of swallows fill our skies and settle for the night at the sanctuary. It is not unusual to find blue and crowned cranes in any of our open parks.
- Inkwenkwezi Game Reserve is situated 20 km’s from Gonubie offering game viewing, as well as elephant interactions and horse trails. The Lion Park is situated just outside our city limits.
- For the sports enthusiast, tennis, squash and bowls are on offer at Gonubie Sports Club 100 meters away. Gonubie Golf Course is a great test of golfing ability for both high and low handicappers, where drinks can be enjoyed after the game on the deck overlooking the sea. We also have East London Golf Club, West bank Golf Club and Alexander Golf Club for the golf addicts who would like to arrange a golfing weekend or mid week break.
- Mountain bikes are available for those who choose to cycle along the beach front.
- There are coffee shops and restaurants aplenty for lazy afternoon lunches or business dinners, some overlooking the sea.
- Another East London attraction is our Antique shops for those interested in browsing or wanting to find that specific item to add to their collection.
- Facilities at our harbour include, a Restaurant, boat trips for fishing, adventure or whale watching.
